承前。小石川後楽園は、小石川植物園や六義園、浜離宮恩賜公園などの庭園公園と比べても、すこし小ぶりだ。
Koishikawa-Kōrakuen is relatively small park in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
ただ、そのぶん密度のある植栽となっていて、歩いてみると意外と広く感じられたりする。
That smallness makes dense layer of green.
菖蒲田の奥にある小山を登れば、うっそうとした木々に囲まれる。
Behind the iris farm, very north of the park, there is a small but steep hill. Green is so thick over there.
中央の大泉水から内庭に続く径からは、白糸の滝。
There is a small waterfall in the south forest.
棕櫚の木々。初夏の陽光を透過して、とても美しい。
Palm trees.
こちらは瘞鷂碑（えいようひ）。水戸の徳川斉脩が作った、先代が将軍からもらった鷹を埋葬した碑。要は超豪華なペットのお墓。園内には旧軍の工廠跡もある。
This is a monument of a falcon which Shogun deign to a lord of Mito. In the pre-modern age, even a bird got gorgeous tombstone.
大仙水ののなかには蓬莱島という小島があり、ちいさな社も見える。
In the middle of the center lake "Daisensui", there is a small island called "Horai Jima". We can notice a small red shrine over woods of the island.
園内にはやたら人懐こい（というか図々しい）カラスもいる。
A crow. Attaching people very much.
都市と森のコントラスト。近世と現代の交わる立体的な景観。これこそ、都内の庭園の醍醐味だと思う。
A beautiful contrast of city and forest. A stereoscopic view of Modern and Pre-modern. It is the most fascinating point of this garden.
